Effective May 1, 2023 the West Nipissing General Hospital has instated optional masking in all public non-patient facing areas including public hallways.
The decision to move to optional masking was made using community data on communicable diseases as well as the most recent provincial recommendations for acute care.
To this effect, please note the following:
- Our hospital may require all who enter to wear a mask when additional infection prevention and control measures are in use.
- Patients visiting our patient-facing areas, including the waiting room for our Emergency Department and patient and resident units, will continue to be asked to wear a mask.
- Masks are available at the Emergency Department and Visitor’s entrance and the entrances to our Long-Term Care and Nursing Care/Continuing Complex Care units.
- Our hospital is mask friendly, please respect and honour each person’s decision to wear masks in optional masking areas.
Please note, our Emergency Department staff are not able to give health advice over the phone.
