It is with joy that I join the Hospital team in serving the community of West Nipissing as the new CEO. I have already met many of the staff, and am impressed by their stories, their smiles, and the pride they demonstrate towards our Hospital.
The experience I bring to the WNGH is varied. I started my career as a Public Health Nurse right here in Sturgeon Falls, doing home visits and serving at both high schools to support folks of all ages to stay healthy.
I had an independent practice as a Nurse Practitioner in collaboration with Dr. Bruce Demers. I also employed a team of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners and provided service to numerous survivors. Additionally, I enjoyed NP work at the Centre de santé communautaire in Chelmsford (my hometown) and Sudbury.
I was also able to gain experience as a professor in baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate programs at Ottawa University, Laurentian University, and Moncton University. I also taught RPNs at Collège Boréal in Sturgeon Falls, a role that might have led me to meet some of WNGH’s own!
My hospital experience includes multiple leadership roles at North Bay Regional Health Centre and as the CEO of Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital.
On the personal side, I love hiking, cross-country skiing, reading, and developing leaders at all levels. Family means the world to me. I am the Mom of two teen daughters and my spouse is a Paramedic here. They are enjoying our community.
My father was born and raised in the area which meant that I spent many childhood weekends camping and picking potatoes on his farm on Drive-In road. I am glad to be back in Northeastern Ontario, closer to my parents and two sisters. I hope that with your help, my family will be able to forge local relationships by participating in West Nipissing life and events.
I believe that, by living our shared values, our team has a solid foundation to provide excellent experiences to all our Patients and their Care Partners.
We are privileged to provide and support care for fellow humans at a time when they most need compassion. I am delighted that what I feel and see as I walk our hallways is our team, showing those values of respect, patient-centredness, communication, teamwork, and compassion.
