The Foundation - Meet the Board

Board of Directors

Message from the Foundation Chair 2016-2017

Working towards a healthy community one piece of equipment at a time.....

Over the past year, the West Nipissing General Hospital Foundation has benefited from a successful year. In 2016-2017, we have gained strength in our visibility and we have increased the awareness of the foundation and the good work being done.

In 2016-2017 $50,000 has been donated to the new digital X-ray suite that will and has greatly benefited our patients and community as a whole. Our activities are on target with our annual Moe Mantha Charity Golf Tournament, Girls Night Inn, Run 4 health, Christmas Tree Raffle, donations and in memorial donations. Annually we make improvements to our events to meet the needs of the participants and to enhance the activities. Each and every year we are very pleased with the generosity of our community members, community businesses and our hospital.

This past year we received several notable donations including $25,000 from Denise Nadon and more than $14,000 from the WNFS Pink T-Shirt campaign, all of which was put towards the purchase of the new X-Ray suite. As well, we were very fortunate to received $100,000 from the Caisse Populaire Sturgeon Falls and $5000 from the Vanier family all of which will support the construction of our LTC Courtyard project. This year we also received numerous donations from patient and families who were very appreciative of the care received and immemorial donations. Typically donations are applied towards general equipment needs, oncology, palliative care, and our new hospice suite.

Late this year, we are very pleased to report receiving funding from NOHFC for a Fundraising Intern. We
welcome Kelsey Anger who we are confident will assist our board and projects into advancement with her
expertise on fundraising and a fresh perspective. As well, I would like to thank Colette Anderson and Cynthia Desormiers for their ongoing support with the foundation.

In closing, I extend my greatest appreciation to our board of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about our community hospital, who believe in safe quality health care and our health care system. The medical equipment we support through donations does make a difference.

"Inspiring and engaging the residents of West Nipissing to give generously to support high quality health care".

Collin Bourgeois (Board of Directors)

Collin Bourgeois has a strong sense of civic responsibility and feels compelled to help others around him, and he invests this same commitment to others in his work. As a funeral director at Théorêt-Bourgeois Funeral Home in Sturgeon Falls, he works to appease the suffering of families living through a difficult time. According to Collin, when families feel confident their Funeral Director will take care of all the details, that lightens their burden: that's why a Funeral Director who is reliable and sensitive to people's needs is so important.

Tina Halvorsen (Member)

Tina was born and raised in the small town of Warren with generations of her family being in retail, she loves the people atmosphere and volunteering her time. While raising her son she was on the minor hockey as well as the school committees. She also volunteers at many local events.

Her enthusiasm and energy has brought her to join the WNGHF in hopes to help out with many of our local events. Tina is currently the General Manager at the Comfort Inn, from the time it was being built, she dedicated her time to the project and now her staff and guests.

Michelle Brouillard (Member)

Michelle joined RBC directly after graduating from Laurentian University. Over the last 27 years she has had the pleasure of working throughout North & Central Ontario, in locations ranging from Fort Frances, her hometown of Sault Ste. Marie, to Barrie, Huntsville, North Bay and most recently as the Branch Manager in Sturgeon Falls. Almost as varied as the locations she's worked at, are the roles she's worked in.

Michelle has always believed that together we can make a significant difference in the betterment of our communities, through one small act of kindness at a time, coupled with thoughtful action.

Everyone knows that the heart of a community's well-being is the local Hospital, and the quality of care that is provided. Michelle feels very privileged to be part of such a progressive Foundation whose core vision is to assist our local Hospital in the provision of excellent healthcare to all of our local residents.
