Visiting Us
Our New Visiting Hours
- The West Nipissing General Hospital shall permit visiting of patients between 11:00 and 20:00 hours. Visiting hours do not apply in Long Term Care Unit.
- We strictly enforce no visiting before 11 a.m. unless for compassionate reasons and palliative care patients,.
- We ask that visitors be sensitive to the needs of room-mates and use our lounges and coffee shop for larger gatherings.
- All children less than 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- No more than 2 visitors are be permitted at any one time in a patient's room, except for compassionate reasons.
- Visiting patients in isolation rooms will be kept to a minimum. No children under 12 years of age will be permitted to visit in isolation rooms. All visitors shall conform to appropriate isolation techniques and will be provided with instructions from the nursing staff on hand hygiene and the appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- At the discretion of the nurse, one visitor may accompany a patient in the Emergency Department.
- Adults shall be permitted to visit in the Enhanced Care Unit for half hour on the hour. Children under 12 years of age will be allowed in this Unit at the discretion of the nursing staff.
- Visitors will not be permitted in the Operating Room. Visitors in the Recovery Room will be limited to one parent per child and one support person per patient with special needs.
- Visitors will present at the Information Centre to request the room numbers of patients.
- We ask that you do not visit if you are not feeling well, if you are experiencing fever, cold or flu like symptoms, diarrhoea or vomiting
